THAR’S A NEW CLUB IN TOWN (AGAIN)

Thu, May 11, 2006 (midnight)

Remember the Bar King Frog? What about the Asylum? Meet the newest tenant of 5150 Spring Mountain Road: Barcode, which will move into the space mid- to late-May. There are four new owners: Kerry Lacy, Daniel Mahan, Theron Dickerson and Jarrod Meistle.
The website,
www.barcodelv.com, has a lineup of weekly events, including hip-hop on Wednesdays, a Latin night on Thursdays, after-hours Friday through Sunday (featuring “very deep house,” says JL Jordan III, head of VIP promotions and marketing) with Sunday promising a female illusion show called Kara’s Candies and DJ Frankie Charles after-hours. Most interesting will be Tuesdays’ Passage to Barcode: Asian Night, at which Dickerson promises DJs from Asia spinning Korean and Japanese pop mixed with American music, as well as specialty Asian liquors being poured.
The upstairs pool rooms have been turned into a VIP area, the musical format will consist of hip-hop and deep house, and the stage will remain, to be used for live performances on Mondays, the club’s service-industry night.
