As the jazz arrangement of “If I Only had a Brain” from The Wizard of Oz was heard, we knew this would not be a normal jazz set.
Sunday, October 27, 2013 kicked off the second Sizzlin’ Sunday at The L26 Restaurant. The event is starting to create a buzz. Based on good family style food with COOOL jazz music can only be kept a secret for so long.
The food was delicious as we dined on roasted potatoes and tilapia. However, we don’t think we would have made a bad decision if we ordered to chicken and the roast beef based on the how much the other guests at our table enjoyed it. They also make a very good mimosa with just a hint of cherry flavoring that really makes it pop.
Now on to the jazz, Multiplicity, a jazz-influenced ensemble of talented Chicago-based musicians who draw from varied eras and styles to create fresh, improvised interpretations of music by legendary artists featuring Barbara Kalnes on vocals, Tom Kalnes on keyboards, Denny Murray on drums & percussion, and Rolfe Hokanson on acoustic & electric bass.
They rocked the house. From 30’s to current they had a wide range of vocals and sounds. Be sure to check out their website at http://multiplicity.me.
This was another great event and we can’t wait till next month. Sizzlin’ Sundays happen the last Sunday of every month from 1-4pm. The next event is on Sunday, November 24, 2013. We will need to make reservations because we are sure it will fill up fast.
