Calabruzzi’s Cafe Closed and was replaced by Thirty3 Bar & Grill in the Fall of 2013. Thirty3 Bar and Grill is located at 3304 S. Halsted St. in the heart of Bridgeport.
Our group of 9 came in hot this past Sunday afternoon to checkout the joint. Many of us have passed by but never stopped in to check it out. As we tried to walk in, the door was locked and the place was empty. They seemed shocked to have guests on a Sunday late afternoon.
This place gives off an intimidating look because it doesn’t fit the culture and decor of the neighborhood Bridgeport bars. It definitely is a step up from the old school flare of typical Bridgeport bars, which we all crave at times.
Now, on to the liquor. They offer $3 draft and bottle beers! The owner greeted us with buying our group a round of Irish Car Bombs, which we quickly accepted the kind gesture. Noteworthy, they are only $5 on Sundays. The liquor was very reasonably priced and even at a lower price than other neighborhood bars.
The restaurant largely serves bar fare like burgers and fried appetizers. In our opinion, pizza must be done well if its on the menu or there is no reason to have it on there. In an attempt to soak up the alcohol from day drinking, we ordered a party size cheese pizza as several people in our party are vegetarians. After waiting, they delivered a steaming hot sausage pizza. They quickly realized the mistake and instead of tossing the pizza out, they were nice enough to leave it at the bar for our meat-eating guests to enjoy while we waited for the cheese pizza. Shockingly, we all thought the pizza was above average bar pizza. Based on the pizza, we will be returning to check out some additional menu options.
Karaoke starts at 9pm every Sunday. I’m not sure if this happens every Sunday but two of the staff members gave us a Coyote Ugly inspired performance on top of the bar, which was a nice touch to end of our Sunday FUNday.
Bottom line, it was a great time at Thirty3 Bar & Grill. Its a nice atmosphere bar that is clean and friendly and will not cost you an arm and a leg to eat and drink there. We still have Bohemian Rhapsody and Pour Some Sugar On Me stuck in our heads. We will definitely be returning.
